Have you ever prayed for someone else to be healed?

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me now
To love, to speak, to heal, to preach…” Tom Read

This happened a few years back but it’s still fresh in my mind:

Back in Malaysia, we used to have a part-time Indonesian helper who came regularly to clean our place. One day, while she was halfway through cleaning she received a call and had to leave. I asked her what happened and she said her sister was in quite serious pain and couldn’t get out of bed. They lived just opposite our apartment block. They weren’t too well off and only had a motorbike, so I offered to send her sister to the hospital. Before we left the apartment, I felt that God wanted me to pray for her sister. I was a bit reluctant as I wasn’t sure how to pray in Malay and was uncertain whether it was legal to pray for a Muslim.

After a bit of hesitation, I knew I had to do it. I asked my helper if we could pray first and she was keen. I can’t remember the words I used but I recall just letting God lead me in prayer. Right after that, she got a call from her husband and her sister could get out of bed. I was shocked! Yes, I prayed and I believed that God will heal but I was surprised when God actually worked so quickly through my prayer. That impacted my life a lot and I believe the seed was planted in my helper and her sister.

Tom Read
